starlight

There once was a star that lit so bright that you could see it from a million light years away. This star dominated the other stars around it so because of the flicker of it's light- the other stars did not want to be near it.

It's not because they feared it but because they felt inferior to it. It illuminated the difference between each stars near it and that would make the stars float away.

"Why must we share our light near the other, if it is already so noticable? Is my light less noticeable if I stand tall." A different much smaller star cried.

"No, that's not the answer." Said the universe.

"But why was I not made that bright... am I not worthy enough" the small star cried back.

"No, you are missing the answer." said the universe.

"But then why when I orbit around that star, it feels like it's dimming my light." the inferior star cried back.

"It does not." the universe responded.

"But, But, But, why are they-" the tiny flashing light tried to speak.

"No." the universe interrupting.

"You are entirely missing the point. It is not because of the stars size, It is not because of it's beaming light, It is not because of the lack of color around it." the universe spoke almost softly.

"Then...Why? Why not me? Why not I?" Oh the star started to cry.

"That is not your purpose. If it was than you would have been that star. But you are not. Understood?" The universe said more anally than before.

"BUT! BUT!" the puny star whimpered.

"You still fail to understand and I have nothing left to say. Rethink again." The universe started to go quiet.

"WAIT! WAIT! WAIT!!!! UNIVERSE!!" the star started screaming.

"this is so mean."

"this is so so mean."

"this is cruel even."

"this is evil." the star pouted with tears.

"...." the star finally went silent.

"This is not mean, so mean, cruel, or evil. If you payed attention less to the bigger star and started paying more attention to your own. It would click in place. That's the only advice I have left for you little star." The universe landed a thumbs up and continued in space.
